Minnie Smith - Powell, was born October 6, 1946, to Albert A. Hooper and Hester J. (Johnson) Hooper in Alton, Missouri. She went home to her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2025, at her home in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 78. Minnie grew up in Alton, Missouri where she married her first husband Roy E. Smith on September 22, 1962. Their marriage was blessed with Tony Smith and wife Laurie of West Plains, Missouri, deceased infant son Michael Roy Smith, Tammy McMaster and husband Michael of Ava, Missouri, and Tina Greninger and husband Dee of Edmond, Oklahoma. Minnie spent her early career working as a dispatcher in the Oregon County Sheriff’s Department. In 1981, Minnie moved to West Plains, Missouri where she worked as a dispatcher in the Howell County Sheriff’s Department. On May 20, 2011, Minnie married her second husband Jerry N. Powell of Madison, Tennessee. She was a proud member of the Madison Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 2473, where she made many friends who quickly became family. She ended her career in 2008, after working several years at the MPD Community Credit Union. In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her husband Jerry N. Powell, infant son, four brothers William Hooper, Hosea Lee Hooper, Ronnie Hooper, and Dewey Hooper, four sisters Helen Pavlu, Nancy Green, Avanell Wilcox, and Mae Bell Cummings. Survivors include her three children, one sister, Alma Sisco and husband Thurman of Tampa, Florida, nine grandchildren, Michael, Randi, Breann, Daxton, Brendon, Brandon, Nikki, Alaina and Mitchell, three great grandchildren, Allison, Kameron and Olivia. Visitation and viewing will be 10:00 - 10:30 am Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Clary Funeral Home, Alton, Missouri. Graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 am in the Bailey Cemetery. Pallbearers: Daxton Dye, Michael McMaster, Taylor Davis, Brandon Barlow, Gene Barton and Mike Barton. |
