Wanda Jean Chronister Bates was born October 2, 1928 in Alton, Missouri and departed this life March 19, 2025, at the age of 96 years & 5 months. Wanda was united in marriage to Estus Lawrence Bates on January 24, 1948 in Alton, Missouri. She is survived by two daughters, Wendelin Jean Carhart, Alton, Missouri and Christy Jo Casey, Alton, Missouri, four grandsons, Travis Hollis, Alton, Missouri, Jon Hollis (Shelly), Alton, Missouri, Shane Casey (Leslie), Alton, Missouri, and Brandon Casey (Ashley), Alton, Missouri, seven grandchildren, Madisyn Smith (Aubrey), Wesson, MS, Owen Hollis, Alton, Missouri, Gavin Casey, Alton, Missouri, Brooke Casey, Alton, Missouri, Tommy Bettis, Alton, Missouri, Kagen Hollis, Alton, Missouri, and McKenzie Hollis, Alton, Missouri. Preceding Wanda in death were her husband Estus, mother, Jo Codene Key, stepfather Harold Key, father-in-law Revel Bates, and mother-in-law Lucy Bates. Wanda enjoyed working outside, growing beautiful flowers and having a garden. She attended United Baptist Church, Alton, Missouri. Graveside services will be 11:00 am on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Smith Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO. |
