Bobbie Dean Goodman, Sr. was born March 20 1931 and passed away on April 6, 2023 at the age of 92 years and 18 days. Bob was born in Thomasville MO, to E.R. “Ross†Goodman and Chloa Andrews Goodman. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Alice Carrington Goodman; his parents; infant brother, Glenn, twin sister; Bonnie Bell, sister; Fern Campbell, brother-in-law; Curtis Campbell, grandson; John Goodman, sister in laws; Annie Harris, Betty Robinson, and brothers-in-laws; John Tabor, Joe Tabor, and Freddie Paul Carrington. Bob is survived by son, Bobbie Dean Goodman, Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Mobile, AL, two granddaughters; Audry and Emily and great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Bell, and a host of other family and friends. Bob was raised on a farm on the banks of Barren Fork Creek. He graduated from Thomasville High School in 1949 and attended SMS Teacher College in West Plains, MO. His first teaching position was at a two-room school in Rector, MO in northern Shannon County. Bob met Alice Carrington in West Plains, MO while he was in the Army Reserves and they married and moved to Peoria, IL where Bob taught school at Bellevue , IL, teaching history and serving as a school principal. In the early 1960s, he, Alice, and son moved to Memphis, TN where Bob became an insurance agent for E.H. Crump Ins. Co. After many years in Memphis, Bob wanted to come back to Thomasville, MO, where he and Alice had purchased a farm. He worked for Coin-Co, in Mountain View, MO as the Human Resources Manager until his retirement. After moving to the farm, Bob enjoyed his love of hunting, fishing, raising Missouri Fox Trotting horses and “rooting on†the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team. He loved the outdoors and shared that passion with family and friends, by whom he will be badly missed. Graveside services will be 11:00am Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at the Union Hill Cemetery, Thomasville, MO with Bro. J. Darrell Strain officiating. Arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Hill Cemetery in care of Dowe Campbel l1470 Kaylor RD Mtn Grove, MO 65711. |
