Cecil Ray Jackson, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on September 20, 2023, in Alton, Missouri, at the age of 70. Cecil was born in Sikeston, Missouri, on September 3, 1953, to proud parents James and Justina Jackson. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Tammy Jackson. Cecil was a dedicated family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He was a father to eight children: Cindy (and her husband Derald), Ashley (and her husband Brandon), Simon (and his wife Shelli), Brandon (and his wife Katelynn), Cory, Austin (and his wife Timber), and Heaven. His 16 grandchildren, Kerrissa, William, Kagen, Makenzie, Cooper, Bowen, Waverley, Emmarie, Renleigh, Olivia, Theo, Easton, Karsyn, Arabella, Riley and Porter, were the light of his life. Beyond his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather, Cecil was an avid hunter, a true outdoorsman who found solace in the beauty of nature. He was a selfless soul, always ensuring that nobody went without, and his heart was as big as his love for family and friends. Cecil had a passion for BBQs and cherished the Fourth of July, where he made sure everything was perfect, just as he did in life. For five decades, Cecil served as a captain on the Mississippi River, displaying leadership and earning the respect of those who had the privilege of working alongside him. He was not just a sailor; he was a mentor and father figure to many who looked up to him. Cecil's journey in life was marked by creating a beautiful life with his beloved Tammy and making their dreams come true together. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him. Cecil Ray Jackson was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie, and his son, Jimmy (affectionately known as Bubby). He will be laid to rest at Smyrna Cemetery, next to his son Bubby, where they will find eternal peace together. Cecil's memory will forever remain in our hearts, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine brightly, reminding us of the beautiful life he led. "Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy." Services will be 1:00pm Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with Bro. Paul Haddock officiating. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Smyrna Cemetery. Pall bearers are Simon, Brandon, Cory, Austin, Derald, and Brandon C. Honorary pall bearers are Kagen, Cooper, Bowen, Easton, Porter, Josh, Ronnie, John, and Dustin. |
